Safeguarding Curriculum

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do and great importance is placed on identifying opportunities in the taught curriculum for children to learn about safeguarding.  We adopt a whole school approach to health and wellbeing and use resources from SCARF which also fulfils all DfE statutory requirements for the Relationships & Health Education curriculum.  We are sensitive in our teaching and recognise that more sensitive subjects need to be taught at an age-appropriate level, or at a small group or 1:1 level where a more urgent need arises.  Any information below should be read in conjunction with the school’s values and ethos as well as the school’s policies especially the  Safeguarding, Computing and  Behaviour policy.

Safeguarding is also taught at every opportunity whenever relevant and in response to children’s comments, views or local and national events. We understand that behaviours come from a need and as such we deal with specific safeguarding incidents with this in mind and offer the support the child may need in the moment.
